This week local search provider YP released its end of year review. The data gathered, ranged from their PC hits, mobiles and the YP apps. The drawn information also included their broader advertising network.
YP reports stated that while most of the searches were local in nature, the most widely queried category was restaurants, which comprised of 10% of all searches.
Their findings concluded that 30% of its overall query volume and look ups were made on mobile devices, with Android devices being the most dominantly used followed by the iPad and then iPhone. With this high percentile of searches being conducted over mobile devices it cements the necessity of having a mobile site.
Below is a list of the top 10 most searched categories and top local advertisers. Although these findings do not represent the full online searches for all PC’s and other devices it is a good reliable gauge to online marketing and searching.
