Months after the social media began leasing advertising space, the blogging network, Tumblr is now extending this placement to their mobile app.
This newly available space is CEO David Karpers way to encourage brands to “promote their content”. Rather than generic advertising, Tumblr has opted for a non-traditional marketing by companies paying to endorse their blogs to be viewed by more users.
Big names like sporting label Adidas, fashion house Christian Dior and film major Lionsgate Entertainment Corp have already jumped on the promoted posts.
Coca- Cola Co. has previously utilized Tumblr to help endorse their global brand campaign. The campaign “Open Happiness” was a series of themed photos that followed simple art.
